I have been living in Compostela for almost 2 years now (moved here Sept. 2022) yet I haven’t done much exploration of the place. This article would be a good start to looking at #OurHomeCompostela.
A third-class municipality in between a city (Danao) and soon-to-be a city (Liloan) dining options are limited. So, I was delighted when I learned that a new restaurant and a staple in the province had opened.
I believe Lantaw doesn’t need an introduction anymore since it is one of the popular Filipino dining restaurants in Cebu Province.
This is the sixth time I have visited Lantaw Compostela.

Ambiance and Atmosphere
Like most Lantaw restaurants, the Lantaw in Compostela is situated near the sea. It has a 2-story open seating area that gets its cool breeze from the ocean. The instrumental standard music adds charm while eating. Most guests are a group of family or friends. Minimal chatting noise.

Food
Taste is subjective. Salty to someone might be okay to another. Delicious to one might not be the case for some. I find the food delicious, with an average rating of 4.5/5.
Crispy Pata (small) at 530 pesos
Serving size. On the other hand, serving size can be quantified. Lantaw’s serving size is mostly just right for its price. It is even better than Parola Danao, specifically its crispy pata and kinilaw. See below for the difference. First photo is the kinilaw from Lantaw and the second photo is kinilaw from Parola Danao.
Lantaw Compostela – Tangigue Kinilaw – 260 grams at 403 pesos (1.55/grams)
Parola Danao – Tuna Kinilaw at 270 pesos (never been touched).
Serving time. Once the order is taken, the waiter/waitress will inform us that the serving time is 15-20 minutes. Let’s see if they have delivered. We visited on a downtime – Friday at 2:40 PM. There are only three tables served before us, then another one along with us.

Lantaw Compostela Price.
Price can also be subjective. But as an average income earner, I believe the price is mostly just right with its serving size and brand popularity. “Mostly” because I find the 1 slice buko pie at 145.00 pesos a little expensive.

Service and hospitality.
All the staff at Lantaw Compostela are hospitable. The waitresses are attentive to our orders. They smiled and greeted everyone nicely. They do not make a face when we follow up on our food and are apologetic when food is delayed (second visit, lunch peak hours). The crew was not noisy during off-peak hours.

My overall experience is good. I love the food and the ambiance. The people I am with always make every visit memorable.

Tips when Visiting Lantaw Compostela
1. Make a reservation when you plan to visit at peak hours (lunch and dinner time).
2. Parking is available.
3. Globe Mobile data is slow, Smart mobile data is better.
4. The second floor has a great ocean view.
5. When the weather is unpredictable sit under the roofed area.
6. Pet friendly.
7. PWD friendly.
8. Accepts senior, PWD, and single parent (with ID) discounts.
