Is there a movie adaptation of the book Before The Coffee Gets Cold? The answer is YES. There is a movie adaptation of the book Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. The movie is called Café Funiculi Funicula which is the name of the café in the book and the movie is directed by Ayuko Tsukahara.
The movie Café Funiculi Funicula has the same mysterious yet warm café vibes as the book. Like the book Before the Coffee Gets Cold, it offers four mini-stories for us to enjoy. And if you have read the book, then you surely know what those stories are. What I find weird is that there are stories in the book that make me cry but did not in the movie, and there are stories in the movie that make me bawl but did not in the book.

Before The Coffee Gets Cold vs Café Funiculi Funicula
There are always changes in book-to-movie adaptations. These are mostly made to add a different taste to the movie or to enhance the storytelling. This is true for Café Funiculi Funicula, but I did not find the changes deviating from the real story. They even add to the emotional and magical aspects of the story.

Recently, I learned to enjoy movie adaptations separately from the books as long as the important details and characters of the story are present. What I love about movie adaptations is that I can vividly add faces to the characters, especially since there are more sequels to Before The Coffee Gets Cold.
If you love the book, then you will surely love the movie. Likewise, if you love the film, you will definitely enjoy the books as much as I do.
